“When I was Younger” is about how the stresses of life tear you down and can create cracks that you must mend over time. On one side of the table there is an unbroken table setting with beautiful white glaze and is almost perfect. This side represents the younger self, the innocence one has the lack of stress in life and the pure joy that it is to be a child. On the other side of the table the pieces are cracked and broken and have been mended back together. This side represents the viewer in the present. The cracks represent the stresses and troubles they have gone through in life and how through time those stresses have healed or lessened. The open holes in the pieces are the traumas in life that either need more time to heal or will never be healed. On each side of the table there are flowers, each flower has a correlating meaning with the side they’re on. On the older self’s side there are lilies to represent the idea of life and the rebirth that happens once you try and heal your stress and cracks. Baby’s breath is on the younger self’s side to represent purity and innocence. Another addition to the table setting is the candles, these candles are representative of life. The candle on the older side has burned longer than the candle on the younger side, showing the difference in life and struggles.
